When should I make the move to the fiber board?

Many times we underestimate foam boards (“corchopán”).
Fashions, advertising or stereotypes sometimes distract us from our own reality; therefore, the first thing we recommend doing is a personal and sincere analysis of our current surfing.
We have worked with students who, already on their second day of surfing, want to take a hard board (fiber, epoxy, etc.) and smaller than what the teachers recommend for surfing initiation, and for us it is as if someone who is taking The driver's license, which is easy to steer the wheel a bit, already wants a sports car in its second class . And they don't see the importance of knowing road safety rules, changing gears, knowing the vehicle, learning to drive with other drivers, in different weather conditions, etc.
The same thing happens in surfing. This is a sport in which several things have to be controlled apart from standing on a board . Learn to paddle correctly, catch the right wave in the right place and at the right time, know the safety rules, behave in the water with other surfers and, above all, learn to read the sea. And you never stop learning.
Here Dani García (several times senior/master champion of Europe and Spain) compressing to the maximum to take advantage of a wave until the end with a “corchopán”.
We have to get rid of the idea that using this type of board will make us feel like "Kooks" , on the contrary, those who use a board that they do not know how to master are, who are also immediately recognized, and are the cause of the 80% of accidents in the water. So let's go step by step; Before running you have to know how to walk.
Before you jump to a smaller fiber board (or not) you should have messed with the starter board many times. Things that we consider key before taking the step :
-Know the center of buoyancy of the board, whether lying down or standing up.
-Being able to stand on the spot and quickly turn around to point the board in the right direction to catch a wave.
-Know how to choose which wave to catch, when and why.
-Have knowledge of the environment (safety, currents, priorities, etc.)
-Take advantage of each wave until the end. Even if it's foam. Learn to move your feet and your position (flexion-extension, look...) on the board to achieve the highest speed, the best orientation and ultimately take advantage of all the energy that the sea is giving us. The longer we stay on the board, the more we surf, right? Well, let's make the most of the waves we catch!
-To anticipate. Go a step or two ahead of what is happening.
-Automated and safe start-up. Being able to make a good "Take Off" is key.
-Catch many waves and enjoy both lefts and rights. Surf the wall.
When we have these things consciously mastered, that will be the moment to take the step to your first evolutionary , a wide board, with volume, adapted to your measurements, with which you will be able to generate more speed and get better lines.
At the Carving Social Club, we are aware of the importance of that first table after the cork board , and that is why we have developed our own to accompany you in your evolution.
The result is a black board, elegant, unique and simple at the same time , it has only two logos, ours of course, and Hav Surfboards on the other hand, the brand we have trusted to produce it.
We wanted to develop our first surfboard with them because we wanted a handmade board, like all of Hav Surfboards , we wanted to bet on a local brand, they are from Barcelona, we also wanted it to be a young brand, like us, and we wanted a brand with which we could visually identify ourselves, we really like all their designs.
We have baptized our black surfboard " Black Rocket ", come in so you can see it and know all its details, we are sure you will love it.
We have it available to try, sign up for our next Surf & Surfskate trip and discover the comfort of paddling an evolutionary board and how easy it will be to stand up.
And remember that if you can also practice out of the water with a surfskate , you will gain a lot of security in the movement and you will improve your posture.
Thus, when you go to the water you will have the most rehearsed things, you will see everything more clearly, your evolution will be faster and you will enjoy much more.
