From Irun with love and a lot of experience, we officially welcome you to YOW Surfskate
Posted on
We had been behind this young brand of surfskates for a long time, which we met three years ago at a fair in Germany, after several negotiations, we have achieved it.
With its incorporation, we can feel happy and proud to have the best current surfskate brands on the market and become the first Online Store to achieve it.
As surfskate specialists, we like to test all the boards we sell in order to advise you on which board will suit you best according to your surfing, relationship with skateboarding, style, intentions and body measurements.
Having all the best brands, and having tested them well, we guarantee that with our free advice you will make the right choice .
So we present to you our latest addition, the YOW Surfskates from HLC Distribution .
To better understand and learn more about the YOWs, we have to go back to the middle of the year 2000. It was then that three Basque brothers, Igor, Ander and Iban Iraola , meeting in their home workshop, made their first skateboards.
They were literally Hasta el Cojones (HLC) that Spain and Europe always had a secondary role in all the strong movement of skateboarding , that the big brands, events, famous riders and the big sponsorships were always in the United States, and they set themselves the goal of creating an important industry in Europe that would compete side by side with the american empire
By then, there was already a powerful movement in Spain around skateboarding , led above all by the distributor Sancheski, also from Irun, but their ambitions went a little further.
Today, with more than 15 years in the market, they have become one of the most transcendental and modern factories in the longboard and skate scene, and the most important in Europe. Surely some of its most important brands will sound familiar to you: Jart Skateboards , Cruzade Skateboards , Long Island Longboards , or Iron Trucks .
They are also distributors of important brands in the sector such as: Sk8mafia , Mosaic Company, Habitat Skateboards , Flip Skateboards , Jessup Griptape and Sovrn .
In all these years its fundamental pillars have been the teamwork , innovation and, above all, quality .
Talking about HLC is talking about quality ; All its brands undergo strict control, so that, even producing an average of 20,000 boards per month, they all come out robust and impeccable.
That's why, when they announced the release of YOW (Your Own Wave) , a surfskate was predicted that would quickly compete with the big brands on the market.
The guys from HLC have patented a turning system , which is the one that has a built-in spring, which allows a rotation with return, and those very surfing sensations; and to which a traditional axis is coupled. In this case they are from the brand Caliber and 8.5" trucks, well-known and very resistant trucks.
Like any new brand, they had some problems at the beginning, but they have been able to react quickly and have overcome them. Its turning system and springs were giving problems, but now the new version , the V3 , is more simplified and is working great .
Another interesting fact is that you can convert any YOW surfskate into a traditional cruiser skate , simply by screwing into the V3 system a screw that comes when you buy the board, and that blocks the rotation.
All other important components of the YOW are of high quality; the boards are made from American hard rock maple , use Jessup sandpaper and the bushings, which the axles carry, are Blood Orange Ultra HR Formula .
In addition, they have recently collaborations with important characters and companies in the world of surfing , who have validated and supported the brand, thus gaining acceptance in the sector.
Among the most important is the collaboration with Aritz Aranburu , currently the most influential Spanish surfer and one of the best in the world. The design of the table has been inspired by the famous painting "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso.
Another collaboration is with the Amatriain family, which evokes from the mythical big wave surfer Ibón , even his children, Iker, Adur and Eki , who are making their way through the lower surf competitions. The model is all white and perfectly simulates a surfboard ; It even has painted on the tail, which would be the carbon reinforcements (which have become so fashionable on the boards) and even the plugs to place the fins and the invention.
And, finally, there is the collaboration made with the prestigious surfboard factory, Pukas , emulating a surfboard made by shaper Axel Lorentz and called "La Loca" .
So we are dealing with a young Spanish surfskate brand, manufactured by the most powerful company in the sector in Europe, and backed by important figures in surfing .
A very appetizing candy!
